Choosing a doula - general tips
Questions to ask your Doula
West of Ireland Dublin South / Wicklow Limerick South East Northern Ireland Midlands North West Dublin North / Louth Dublin area

Please note that this is a general guide only. Some doulas may cover more than one area and others may only cover part of an area. Please contact the individual doulas if you require further information.

The Doula Association of Ireland does not accept any responsibility for services provided to you by a doulas listed on this website. We advise that you ask doulas details of their background and experience at interview, and that a written contract be drawn up between you and the doula before the provision of the service.

Doula Categories:

Registered Doulas: These are doulas who have completed an approved training course and have submitted assessment forms for at least three births to the Association.

Trainee Doulas: These are doulas who have completed an approved training course but have not yet undertaken the requisite number of births. The Doula Association recommends that trainee doulas charge a lower fee for their services until such time as they have gained the necessary experience to be classified as Registered Doulas.

Doula Fees

As an Association, we do not stipulate a set schedule of recommended fees for doula services. Doulas should be contacted directly as to their fee, which can vary according to their training, experience and personal circumstances. We do however recommend that inexperienced doulas charge a reduced rate for their services.
Women who are members of VIVAS health insurance can obtain a rebate for doula services provided by Doula Ireland doulas.

Voluntary Work

Many of our members carry out some voluntary work or provide services for reduced rates. If you are interested in hiring a doula or know of someone who could benefit from doula care but are financially constrained, then this may be an option for you/them. Please contact the Association for further information and a list of volunteer doulas.

Terms of Use
